Join us for the 2024 Joint Annual Business Seminar, organized by The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, The European Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, and the German Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong.
Since the lifting of China's 'zero-COVID' strategy in late 2022, Chinese officials have been actively working to restore the country's appeal as a prime investment destination. However, the China Business Confidence Survey (BCS) 2024, conducted by The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China in partnership with Roland Berger, reveals that this recovery journey is fraught with challenges.
The annual survey shows that despite the re-opening of China's borders in early 2023, business confidence in the market continued on a downward trend. Instead of benefitting from the strong economic rebound that many had expected, European firms operating in China found themselves facing more uncertainty.
China's structural issues—including sluggish demand, growing overcapacity and the continued challenges in the real estate sector—along with market access and regulatory barriers, continued to negatively impact European companies.
In this breakfast seminar, distinguished speakers Klaus Zenkel and Laurent Doucet will present the key findings of the survey and discuss the evolving landscape of business in China. Johannes Hack, president of The German Chamber will moderate the session.
The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session. Light breakfast, coffee, tea and juices will be available for attendees.
Stay informed on the latest developments and connect with industry leaders as we navigate the complexities of doing business in China.
